A family-run haulage firm founded over 35 years ago has become the latest member of Palletforce, becoming the fourth new member in four weeks.

Gibbs Transport provides next day pallet distribution, a nationwide delivery service with warehousing and secure storage facilities from its base at Heathrow.

Formerly a founding member of Pall-Ex, the company will cover SL postcodes for Palletforce – taking over area from Allport Cargo Services and Downton Thatcham.

The addition of Gibbs Transport has allowed Palletforce to secure long-term delivery capacity and enhance service around the capital – creating further stability for members.

The network has adjusted postcodes for six additional members to enhance service for customers while also providing a more efficient area and balanced volumes for members.

Palletforce member relations director David Breeze said: “Gibbs Transport has decades of experience and a proven track record of successful operations in a competitive area. Palletforce can offer it a more efficient region within which to operate and volumes which match the company’s delivery profile.

“It also means we’ve been able to adjust postcodes slightly for other members, the overall result will enhance service and create efficiencies for our members around London and deliver long-term stability for the network as a whole.”

Gibbs Transport director Phil Gibbs said: “The decision to change networks is right for our business, and we are excited to be working with Palletforce and its members.

“Palletforce’s investment in operational support and technology makes it a market leader in our sector, and as the network grows we aim to grow our business with it.”
