Charles Shelley has received the EV Cargo Global Forwarding Dare to Soar award.

The award, now in its 20th year, recognises an individual within the supply chain management team who has shown outstanding commitment and attitude, above and beyond expectations, earning praise from customers or benefiting the company.

Client executive Charles was a consistently strong member of the team throughout 2020, never failing to deliver and always willing to improve.

A company spokesperson said: “Operating at times above the expectation of the role in which he was working, Charles has readily accepted an increased workload and additional responsibilities and always in a calm manner.

“Whilst quietly getting on with the job in hand, Charles has also proved to be an incredibly supportive team member, working through uncertain times with real dignity. We have seen Charles grow significantly in confidence this year and, when nominated for this award, was rightly described as an ‘unsung hero’.

“A real shining star within the team, we are really pleased to be able to recognise Charles’s talent, commitment and outstanding attitude.”

Charles, who has been the SCM client executive for Matalan and The Original Factory Shop accounts since 2018, said: “From the start of 2020, when COVID began presenting us with new and urgent challenges to face, my clients were relying on me to support them through each new problem, suggesting solutions and working collaboratively along the way.

“I have learned a lot from my colleagues and clients about how to manage complex business decisions that require urgent solutions, and plan to build on the experience and resilience I’ve gained through 2020.

“It goes without saying that 2020 was one of the most challenging years many of us have faced, both professionally and personally. But for me, logistics has always been about teamwork and comradery. When faced with new challenges, the feeling that I am part of a team, supporting each other with workloads and maintaining an exceptional level of service for our customers throughout the year motivates me every day.

“Knowing that I am doing my part to support my colleagues and customers in managing their supply chains through this challenging period, and can rely on the support of others, gets me out of bed each morning (that and a very hungry cat!).”
