A new behavioural safety programme introduced by EV Cargo Logistics aims to take traditional H&S procedures to a new level.
The programme commits to continually improve workplace health and safety through monthly behavioural safety audits on key subjects carried out by colleagues.
Neil Fairbrother, head of health and safety at EV Cargo Logistics, explained: “Full engagement of colleagues in the programme is an essential part of behavioural safety. Without this engagement, it’s difficult to make improvements.
“Challenging unsafe behaviours increases the probability that safety will improve. The programme focuses on the small number of unsafe behaviours that are responsible for a large proportion of workplace accidents or incidents.”
It’s hoped the data created from these observations will allow Neil and his team to measure safety performance. This data can then be examined for trends to identify the key operational areas that still need improvement.
