EV Cargo Technology delivery consultant Benjamin Webb has been putting his expertise to good use in order to help elderly neighbours cope with the Covid lockdown.
The 23-year-old, who has only recently taken up his post and is also studying for a degree, has spent his spare time creating a distance-support network for vulnerable people in Slough, including a weekly shopping service for those unable to leave their homes.
“There are a lot of elderly people where I live, and Covid has left many feeling isolated,” he says. “I just try to make a change where possible, whether that’s buying a homeless person some food and a drink or helping someone in distress. But if the pandemic does have a silver lining it’s that the population as a whole is becoming a lot more empathetic and supportive.”
During his short career with EV Cargo Technology, Benjamin has worked with some of the UK’s largest retailers, helping to implement a number of successful projects and gaining valuable training through Prince 2 and Sixth Sigma.
“I do allow myself a bit of free time,” he says. “I enjoy golf, playing pool and generally just relaxing playing a bit of X-Box with the lads!”
