EV Cargo Logistics has extended its long-term relationship with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s with a new two-year contract extension, which includes an increased level of primary distribution from fresh produce suppliers across the UK.

EV Cargo Logistics will handle an additional 10,000 pallets every week, collecting produce from 60 suppliers across 40 different locations, and delivering to the 13 regional distribution centres which form Sainsbury’s national network.

“EV Cargo is a long-term, trusted partner to Sainsbury’s and this contract extension is the result of the high level of service we’ve provided since 2002,” explained managing director Aaron Scott.

“We’ve driven efficiency and volumes by combining network flows and will manage this additional significant volume through our existing primary chilled network to enhance service levels even further.

“The fresh produce we collect from the 60 additional suppliers is all in the temperature range of +2 to +10 degrees so time, efficiency and service is paramount. With additional capacity from other EV Cargo divisions, we can also handle additional seasonal volumes.”
