EV Cargo company Palletforce has launched a dedicated Brexit Taskforce to support its members and help their customers prepare for Britain’s imminent departure from the EU.

The network will use its own extensive knowledge of international shipping and customs formalities, combined with the specialised expertise of EV Cargo divisions, to address last-minute concerns as the December 31 deadline rapidly approaches.

David Breeze, Palletforce’s commercial and international director, said: “In a year in which our members have been rightly preoccupied by concerns over the impact of COVID-19 on their businesses, it has been easy to forget that Brexit is looming.

“The fact is, however, that many new processes will come into force with regard to European markets and we all need to take steps to prepare for them.

“The role of the Taskforce will be to provide the advice, reassurance and practical assistance our members require to ensure both they and their customers are ready and confident for a seamless transition.”

Over the last few months Palletforce has been working closely with a number of its members who have significant international business and the EV Cargo Global Forwarding division to identify areas of potential concern.

As well as providing clear guidance on the new requirements post-Brexit, the Taskforce will provide helpline assistance for members with specific queries. The company has also added additional features to its award-winning Alliance system to ensure it is ready to process European shipments post EU departure.

Mr Breeze said: “As part of EV Cargo, Palletforce continues to develop sector-leading European and international services, and we are seeing a gradual recovery in volumes as economies ramp up trading.

“New routes to Greece, Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania and Croatia have brought the number of direct international services operated by Palletforce to 30, with the prospect of a further 10 countries being added in the next few months.

“While the fine print of the Brexit departure has yet to be confirmed, we are monitoring developments closely and will of course keep all of our members informed and provide support to ensure they continue to offer the best possible services to their customers.”
