EV Cargo Logistics is opening two major new distribution sites to manage ongoing growth, new customer contract wins and to drive operational efficiency for a major client.
It is currently building a new state-of-the-art hub at Magor in south-east Wales. It will act as a bespoke logistics centre for major customer ABInBev, the world’s largest brewer.
Replacing the site at Chepstow, the new hub will house around 40 staff with 130 trailer and 50 tractor units based there. It will manage the flow of all inbound and outbound goods at the Magor brewery and operate a ‘just in time’ policy to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and asset management.
The site will have an extended storage area for kegs and drinks products will be transported to distribution centres, retail outlets and for onward deliveries to pubs and consumer outlets.
Meanwhile a new major warehousing and transport hub at Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire is set to open in May. With 270,000 sq ft of prime warehousing, enough for 20,000 pallets of goods, the depot aims to have a fleet of up to 40 trucks in the future.
Opening in May, the centre will store products for a number of new customer contracts and it’s expected to be completely full by July.
